Starting hormone therapy can feel like a big step, and it helps to know exactly what to expect. Here is how a first consultation works at Hormone and Regenerative Medicine, what it costs, how lab work is handled, and what the months after that first visit look like.
Your first visit, from start to finish
Your first consultation is the longest visit you will have with me. It lasts about an hour, either face to face in the office or through telehealth.
When you walk through the door, our front desk receptionist will collect your insurance card and driver's license to upload into your chart. After you sign in, you are taken to the vital signs room, where we check your blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, weight and BMI.
Then I sit down with you. We go through a comprehensive review of your medical history, current medications, allergies, symptoms and overall health background, so your evaluation is personal and thorough. You get my full, uninterrupted attention. I want to hear your story and what brought you to the office. We also review your bloodwork. Your story and your bloodwork together guide the right treatment.
There is no standard protocol or one-size-fits-all approach to hormone therapy. Each person is treated individually.
Your personalized treatment plan and follow-up care
Once I recommend a treatment plan and you agree to it, I walk you through what the process looks like after your first appointment:
- Which hormones are recommended, what doses, and when to take them
- When your next labs are due and when your next follow-up visit is
- Where to go if you have a medical question and need to reach me
- What will happen at your follow-up visits
Most importantly, I walk you through how much your treatment plan costs and what forms of payment are accepted.
Hormone therapy consultation cost in Lake Mary
Your initial consultation is $250 and includes approximately one hour of dedicated time with me to review your medical history, symptoms, current medications, allergies, and available laboratory results.
During this visit, we will discuss your concerns, review your lab findings in the context of your overall health, and determine which treatment options may be appropriate for your individual needs. If treatment is recommended, we will discuss your personalized plan, anticipated costs, laboratory monitoring, and follow-up schedule.
My goal is for you to leave your first appointment with a better understanding of your health, your treatment options, and the next steps.
The consultation fee covers your initial evaluation, review of available laboratory results, and treatment planning. Medications, additional laboratory testing, and follow-up appointments may involve separate charges depending on your treatment plan. All anticipated costs will be reviewed with you before you proceed.
Ongoing hormone therapy costs and lab monitoring
The cost of ongoing treatment varies based on your individual needs. Most of our hormone therapy programs range from $150 to $350 per month.
For example, your monthly costs may vary depending on whether your treatment involves hormone medications, prescription refills, scheduled follow-up visits, or additional monitoring. Different treatment approaches have different requirements, so not every patient has the same monthly expenses.
We will discuss your recommended treatment plan and anticipated costs before you begin. We also explain the timing of your follow-up visits and laboratory testing, so you understand what to expect throughout treatment.
Laboratory testing is typically completed before your initial consultation, again at approximately five weeks, and then every three to four months when appropriate for your treatment.
We offer a concierge approach focused on individualized care, ongoing monitoring, and direct communication with your provider. Our goal is to make the process clear from the beginning, including what your program includes and any additional costs you may incur.
Why we use a cash-pay concierge care model
Hormone and Regenerative Medicine has chosen to operate as a cash-pay, concierge practice. Too often, care is dictated by insurance companies when it comes to appointment times, treatment options, lab testing and follow-up care.
The core focus of my practice is personalized, patient-centered care. My goal for every visit is to spend the time it takes to truly understand your symptoms, review your health history, evaluate your comprehensive lab results and develop a treatment plan specific to you.
By staying independent of insurance networks, we can offer longer appointments, direct access to your provider, individualized treatment plans and a wider range of advanced therapies designed to optimize your health and wellness. It lets us focus on what is best for you rather than what an insurance policy covers.
How lab work and insurance billing work
Hormone and Regenerative Medicine is a cash-pay, concierge medical practice. We do not bill insurance for office visits, consultations, or treatments. This model allows me to dedicate more time to each patient, provide individualized treatment planning, and focus on your health goals without being limited by insurance network requirements.
Although our clinic does not bill insurance, you may be able to use your insurance for eligible laboratory testing performed through Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp. We provide the appropriate lab order, and you can contact the laboratory or your insurance company to understand your coverage and potential out-of-pocket costs.
Insurance coverage varies by plan, and coverage is not guaranteed. Our goal is to help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about your care.
How long does hormone therapy take to work?
The timeline varies for every patient. After the first three to six weeks of treatment, many patients start to feel and see some changes. Hormone therapy is a puzzle, and not every piece fits at once. Some patients take 3 to 4 months to optimize, and others can take a year to get the perfect combination together.
Whether you are coming to me for women's hormone therapy or testosterone therapy for men, your first visit works the same way.
Is our approach to hormone therapy right for you?
Our practice may not be the best fit if you have firmly set expectations about specific medications, doses or treatment approaches before completing an evaluation, or if you want to direct your own prescribing plan. That also includes expecting to receive the same treatment as a friend or family member.
I encourage patients to be informed and ask questions. But treatment decisions should not be based solely on information from internet searches, social media, online forums or artificial intelligence tools.
What surprises patients most
There are two things patients tell me most often surprised them. The first is that they never knew how bad they felt until they started to feel good again. The second is that they finally feel like someone took the time to listen to them.
